my "lame" work got featured on it /)_(\. i browsed the best of the month section of psdtuts and there i saw this link about 3D typo inspiration by Marco Kuiper. was shocked that my "lame" work was there hihi. honestly, it was a bit embarrassing coz from all the works featured there, i'm pretty sure that mine was the least meaningful. i mean, there's no concept at all and the typo or the text has no relation on what the scene tells. no story to tell haha well i just did that one for complete fun and it's nice to know that others were able to appreciate it. (although i still admit it sucks! Xd) now i just realized, you'll never learn to appreciate your works unless others do. or vice versa.

During summer, I was completely glued to my kuya's PSP as i indulged myself in playing Crisis Core w/c we all know is a prequel to FFVII. For the record, the only FF series that i was able to finish was FFVIII (Rinoa & Squall *hearts*) and that was like 3 or 4 years ago. and still, for me, it has the best opening and ending of the story (mushy me) ohh Crisis Core hits a terrific opening as well. superb graphics.
anyways, as in i was so addicted in trying to finish Crisis Core and i was like maybe almost half of it but then dammittttt! WTF! fCUK! the stupid game crashed!!! ugh! it's worse than a game over. fCUK!

ok so i saw this terrific 3D renders of FF characters by "montyoum". damn he's good, he even customized some of their costumes. i was hoping to land a Rinoa render but what?! none. oh come on. so i just picked Rikku over Yuna and Lulu XD
i love Rikku. she's very lively and cheerful/optimistic (the way she's able to hide her feelings even when she's sad). what do you expect from a kid who can speak both English and AlBhed? =)
I wasn't able to play much of FFX coz it was the time of PS1's downfall (me = no PS2. boohoo!). i'm also fond of Kingdom Hearts, and Yuffie looks like Rikku right? hmmmmm. Well KH2 featured her and yuna anyways so that evens it up XD
ok, so the challenge on this one is for me to perhaps recreate the "Final Fantasy Environment". uhhhhhh, yah, SPIRA. but well the only "techie" stuff that you can see there is the space craft which is not even close to being a FF craft. Balamb Garden is my favorite among all maps, but i'll just reserve it for Rinoa.
So i dunno. i just went for a combination of the scenery of Spira and Midgar (asa) XD

Skin Crack/Peel Effect. i added the tutorial on how it can be achieved.
i was browsing on the web and i saw some works with the skin peeling/skin cracking effect on it and seems like a lot of people were amazed by it as numerous of replies and comments were posted in praising "wow" "super cool" "great" blah blah blahs.
at first i just ignored it, but later on somehow my interest clipped it. and well yeah i know i can do that as well. a lil bit of challenge maybe but i can handle it easily. *evil grin*

INSIGHT
as far as my style goes, i don't really depend on tutorials that i passed by on the web. i don't know, it's just me that i don't really actually follow certain steps written on it. my style is i don't read that much. never put too much attention on the step by step instructions. it'll just mess up your concentration. my approach is, i go by images step by step. i just observe. look what happened and compare the difference. that's it.
in short, don't copy that other guy's formula. do it yourself if you want to learn. but if you're a newbie, yeah you should follow the instructions, but along the way, make sure to try different approaches. do this and that. experiment. stick with what looks good for you.
so i just personally read some tutorials regarding a certain effect, observe and play a lil bit. then that's the time i do it my way. i use the technique i've learned and incorporate my own style along the way.
in short, i wanna show what they can do, and i wanna let them see what i can do.
the usual "tatak bes" will always be there for identity. it's a signature already. each and everyone of us has our own style. with just one look, you'll know. ahhh he did this. she did that.

STEP1
open the image you want to peeeeellll or crackkkkkkkk or destroyyyyyy.
STEP 2
bring in the crack/peel texture you want to use. you can find it anywhere on the web. try deviantart.
STEP 3
so we will work on the face. CONCENTRATE on the face. PARK YOUR EYES ON ITS PROPER PLACE. just focus your attention on her face. ok? okkk..
so drag the texture to the spot you want it to place (for this instance, on her face). then change the adjustment to "multiply".
STEP 4
we will add an adjustment layer on our texture. to achieve this, see that circle below that's half black half white? click it and select "Levels".
Step 5
now, double click that box with the graph thingy to activate the levels palette. adjust the darkness and lightness depending on your taste. just make sure that the outline for the cracks are dark enough but not too much so it'll appear on her face. click OK. (duhhh)
STEP 6
now we will add a clipping mask. meaning, the layer that you will clip on a certain layer, will only appear or affect that certain layer. to activate it, just right click on the layer you wanna clip and select "create clipping mask". there, you will see that an arrow pointing down indicates that that layer is clipped on that layer.
STEP 7
one key technique/features whatever in photoshop, is the "layer mask". you know. show/hide thingyyy.... white means show. black means hide. i won't explain why. just research on it.
make sure.layer mask is active. get the brush tool. use black as the foreground color.
but wait, before you do your vandalism whatever, make sure thelayer mask is active. click that white rectangle/box besie the texture layer icon. gets? don't mind if you don't.
then brush whatever that is not neccessary.
STEP 8
you can see, as you brush some parts away, the outline of the crack is slowly getting its shape. the next steps are some perefferal steps already. meaning, it's up to you on how you'll work on it and what look your are trying to achieve.
after adding some adjustment layers (color balance and curves), i was able to achieve this look and yeah i'm already contented w/ it. it already looks nice to me. as i've said, it depends on your taste.
just repeat the steps and you will be able to achieve the same for the rest of her body.
there, i did the same steps again and was able to achieve a complete crack on her face. and that's about it.
that's it. anyone can do this in i think less than 30 mins. it's easy. so next time you see these kinds of effects, you already know how they do it. well somehow becasue this is my own way.there are actually a lot of ways to do this but i'm comfortable with this way. again, everything depends on you.
so that's it. i hope i was able to help to unlock that mystery (yeah whatever) that's been lingering on your head. appologies if i'm not a good teacher, just like you, i'm still a student and will always be a student.

Akon’s song is about a stupid dipshit guy or maybe a pimp who fell in love with a “STRIPPER” on a night club whatever. He must have been captivated by the stripper’s humungous fake boobs, by the fat injected ass and all the rest that have been scientifically enhanced or what I call psycho morphing. *evil grin*
Anyways, I don’t get it why still a lot of men practice these kinds of dirty disgusting deeds. Most of them are already married. But still, they allow themselves not only to cheat their wives but themselves as well.
Diamond rings. Luxurious sports car. Gold earrings. Jewelries. Travel around the world. Big fat wallet. A fountain of dollar. Extravagant gifts. All the other stuff. And sometimes, Power and Popularity.
Those are most of the things that Gold Diggers fished for on their prospect bachelors.
Well I personally, I can’t have no respect for those kind of people. I’m not trying to offend anyone, but come on. If a good life is what you’re looking for, it’s not all about the GOLD.
There may be some exceptions. I may still respect those people who eventually DO these deeds but for a GOOD reason. Although I pity them for they sacrifice their self just to give their family a good life, in order to survive. But still, we all know that there are other ways. There will always be other ways than doing the disgusting deeds.
But do not be deceived. Don’t be a victim of trickery and deceit.
She may be a bundle of lust. A human withdrawal machine. A GOLD DIGGER.
Get to know a person by who he/she is on the inside and not by what he/she looks like on the outside. Yeah, that is so cliché. A very passe’ line but still most of us tend to forget about it when the situation come. The weaklings succumb to temptations while the intelligent ones know how to say no.
I personally know people who did these deeds. They will flirt with the rich dudes. One call. Boom. These happen especially before exam days. Time to pay the tuition fee, HI! Talk. Bed. BOOM! Gold.

earlier while browsing the web, i encountered a page that led me to these works of Nik Ainley. damn! i'm not worthy.... hands down. if not the best, then he's one of the best "typograpist" (just invented that term hehe) ever existed on this planet... XD
ok so i saw his works and got a little inspiration from it. then he has this tutorial, a very helpful one about types.
creating a very unique type requires not only Photoshop (although you can use it independently) but with the help of Illustrator and the likes.
this is the 1st time that i used a "cross platform" process in creating something.
I used Photoshop, Illustrator, and Xara 3D(for the text) on this one. it may sound so complicated but nahhh it's just simple...
to explain it all, uhhh i think we are all artists or painters in our own little ways or in our own little worlds. for me, this is how i work. i always try to be neat but i just can't avoid to have some mess around and some things to be wasted or let's say, "paint splatters" whatever... i enjoy working with my favorite songs, food and drinks on side. cheeseburger! XD
of course the girl is clearly not me. duhh.. she's a painter/sketcher/ drawer(the one who draws? XD)...
anyways.. the output wasn't really what i intended it to be, for i patterned it first w/ the way the tutorial goes. but it looked empty and lifeless after i finished the entire tut.
so, ta heck! i just used my compositing "iQ" and voila...

1st of all, i chose this song by Flyleaf because again, LSS attack mode or maybe i can just relate to it. I fell in love with the song and easily got attached to it. weird... I'm also intrigued with the meaning of this song.
Just like Paramore, Flyleaf is a christian band and we seldom misinterpret some of their songs as "love songs" in where they're actually intended as "Praise Songs".
In a christian POV, "Tiny Heart" is a song about God calling to us trying to reach us. yes, God is can also be jealous in a way but He waits. No matter how much we sin, He's still always there for us. Loving us. Caring for us. We point are attention to other things that there are times that we forget about Him. But He's still there. Always there inside that TINY HEART of ours.
On the other side, THE LOVE SONG PART about a relationship, it's a song about this boy/girl that likes this girl/boy but he/she just couldn't get her/his attention towards him/her.
But she/he likes every other boy/girl except him/her, and doesn't feel one bit of guilt about it. And he's/she's left waiting for this girl/boy who will never love him/her back.I think the part where it says "when will you get back to me..." means that maybe she/he liked him/her at one point, maybe she's/he's an ex or they used to be friends but lost that friendship because of his/her confession of his/her feelings..
It also talks about how they're soulmates. How he/she thinks she's/he's his/her "other half" ("when will you recognize the beat of my own heart making your blood flow, so your chest can rise and fall"). Maybe its just a line meaning that he/she helps her/him.
And the part "you will never know what you have done to me" etc. is the part where he/she expresses his/her hurt/anger towards this boy/girl who's rejecting him/her. And how he's/she's saying that he/she will never let go and always love him/her, and that she'll/he'll never be alone.
He/she says that he'll/she'll always love this girl/boy and how he'll/she'll always be waiting.
Well that was a long explanation, but no matter what the real meaning of this song is, I love it! One of the best song ever!
Now on my graphical interpretation, I don't know. I'm just trying to give it an "emo" touch. You can see a girl holding this balloon heart, while hopelessly waiting for this boy to come back to her. With all of the pictures and photographs of their past memories lingering on her.
And to add the Christian meaning, in our darkest hours, God is always there for us to give us light for every second of that hour. I divided the canvas between dark and light. And the hot air balloons, i don't know, probably a sign of hope, happiness, and freedom.
